Quarantined with the Self

the quarantine phase is painstaking and revealing at the same time, especially when one is forced to stay indoor not given the free will.

It has been almost 2 months that we are all dwelling within the realms of an unprecedented quarantine. Life seems to be at a standstill, enforcing the mind to go through arrays of different thought dimensions. Importantly, it is unveiling critical issues that have been hidden under the constant busy schedule of our mundane lives, issues that have been ignored, as exploring it will dig-up many unwanted questions that we might not be ready to answer. But, at times nature and life seem to push humanity at that juncture where life seems to slip from one’s grip and tries to form its own route, its own destination, which we are not ready to face. That can involve a sudden job change or a realization of a dilapidated attachment to objects or relations that seems to no longer serve its purpose or has lost its charm. All the external elements of our lives suddenly seem fake and fragile. Again, on the flip side, this phase has also pushed people to realize many blessings that they have overlooked, embellishing their holistic sense of happiness.

In short, it is a roller-coaster ride for the mind, which is actually trying to form a solid grip and a strong understanding of what is really happening internally and externally. As for me, it has been the same. For a while, I tried to form a proper thought process to systematically function in this time of unexpected natural havoc. But then, I let it be. Yes! Just let it be! There is an unexpected feeling of bliss when you just accept everything around you and within you. Just accept your current feelings, as this too shall pass, reminding us that the mind can never form a constant theme of ideas as it is fleeting, as fleeting as time and situations…

In this time the best remedy to understand and to form a firm understanding of one-self is to meditate. Through meditation you can just be quiet for some time, allowing the chaotic thoughts to emerge again, and witness it without judgement or a compulsion to form an opinion. Meditation can bring a sense of calmness, which will give the practitioner better clarity of things. In this hard time, it is normal to make mistakes, which can affect us personally through the formation of a misguided perspective, bringing a deep sense of regret gradually. Hence, through meditation, you can use the time to understand the self better and form a positive mental attitude by not letting the head fuss over minute aspects of life.

Well, I think even I need to start meditating…What about you?
